On September 11 – 12 the long-expected festival the “Photographer Day” took place in the Sokolniki park of culture and entertainment of Moscow.
The guests were offered to attend 20 seminars and master-classes. One could visit the specialized professional shooting zones, large-scale exhibitions, portfolio-review zones, take part in the competitions, games and other events. During the weekend the festival was visited by over 4,5 thousand photographers, amateurs and specialists. More than ten thousand people visited the festival altogether. The guests came for the weekends to enjoy the festival from nearly all regions of the Russian Federation, especially from such cities as Khabarovsk, Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk, Omsk, Izhevsk, Kazan, Krasnodar, etc. One of the surprises arranged for the guests was a program of seminars and master-classes of the German photographer Silvio Kuhn, whose web-seminar opened the educational program of the festival. After the him the program was followed by the outstanding Russian photographers: Igor Saharov, Andrey Kamenev, Alexander Nozdrin, Eduard Kraft, Laslo Gabani, Helen Karneeva, Lana and Igor Grishin, Alexander Korobov, Sergei Novojilov, etc. They all shared experience and knowledge with the audience. The festival culminated with the presentation of the National Prize “The Photographer of the Year”.
It should be mentioned that the festival was supported by the participation of several institutions providing education in the field of photograohy. The delegation of the Russian State University for the Humanities was lead by Prof. Alexey Loginov and the graduates of the program of professional retraining “Contemporary Photography. Photographic Design”. The educational programs of the RSUH attracted considerable interest of the public for the variety of areas of specialization and the possibility of choosing different levels of qualification in the field of photographic education.
